Disaster preparedness and response focus of Sept. 11 Neighborhood Roundtable forum

Neighborhood Roundtable will host a panel discussion Sept. 11 on community-wide disasters. Topics will include how individuals, local governments and emergency organizations can prepare for and respond to catastrophic events such as natural disasters and illness outbreaks.

The event is free and open to the public from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Central Assembly of God Fusion Center, 1421 N. Campbell St., Springfield, Mo. The Fusion Center is located on the northwest corner of Calhoun and Campbell.

Panelists invited to participate in the event include David Hoover, hospital emergency planner, Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management; Cheryl Jackson, assistant director of emergency services, American Red Cross Disaster Team; Ryan Nicholls, director of the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management; and Kendra Williams, administrator of community health and epidemiology, Springfield-Greene County Health Department.

After opening remarks by the panelists, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions to further the dialogue. 

Neighborhood Roundtable is solution-based not issue driven. The goal of Neighborhood Roundtable is to bring Springfield neighborhoods together quarterly to engage, educate and inform neighborhood residents about ways to make their community a better and safer place to live, work and play.

Neighborhood Roundtable is facilitated through Community Partnership's Caring Communities Initiative and the Urban Neighborhoods Alliance. Due to limited space, please call the Community Partnership office to reserve seating, 888-2020.
